Nigeria: Authorities have begun demolishing properties of the Shia minority

After consecutive attacks by the Nigerian army since December 2015 that cost the lives of hundreds of people of the Shia minority, the government has not hesitated to launch a new wave of repression against the minority destroying infrastructure and property of civilians.

The Nigerian government began last week to demolish Shia minority buildings in the Kaduna region, including schools, hospitals and colleges.

Human rights defenders have repeatedly condemned the Nigerian army calling on the international community to do everything possible to prevent the Nigerian authorities from continuing their acts of violations of the rights of minorities throughout the territory.
